Here’s a snapshot of homeowner activity in the fourth quarter according to the Census Bureau.
People who own homes have gone up in the fourth quarter compared to third quarter. It went up from 65.4 percent to 65.5 percent nationwide.
Rental vacancy and homes for sale went down in the fourth quarter.
For people 65 and older, home ownership is on the decline but is on the increase for people 35 and younger.
The Midwest reported to have the highest home ownership; home ownership rose in the South, went down in the West and stayed the same in the Northwest.
One year ago the median asking price for a vacant home was $133,800 and now it’s $137,700 in the fourth quarter.
