COLETTE DAVIS – PROBATE ATTORNEY

Colette T. Davis obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University, School of Law,
cum laude, in Los Angeles, California and Bachelors of Arts from California State University, Los
Angeles. Ms. Davis is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and California, including the
United States District Court in California and North Carolina.

During Ms. Davis’ 23 years of practice, she has spent 20 years as an entrepreneur managing a private law practice. Ms. Davis’ firm focuses on Probate, Estate Planning, Guardianship, Conservatorship and Bankruptcy law and has
represented in excess of fifteen hundred client matters during her career between in California and North Carolina.
Ms. Davis has spent most of her career counseling and educating clients about maintaining generation wealth by
emphasizing the need of estate planning for estates of all financial levels. Structuring advice to meet client’s specific needs, while encouraging clients to build future wealth for their loved one has been a primary concentration. Ms. Davis is also an advocate for the civil rights of senior citizens, disabled persons and incapacitated individuals in her private practice and through the probate volunteer program with Los Angeles Superior Court.

Managing the transfer of a loved one’s estate, counseling small business owners about maintaining and transferring
wealth through succession planning and advising a bankruptcy client how to recover and thrive after filing bankruptcy are some of Ms. Davis’ legal talents, but her attention to detail and the compassion, care and concern she has for her client’s wellbeing and the focus she exhibits on educating her clients to be their own best advocate is what sets her apart from others in the legal profession.

In addition to her practice, Ms. Davis spent 2 years as a professor of Wills, Trusts and Estates for Central Piedmont Community College, is a regular guest speaker on a variety of topics, including estates, small business matters, preserving and transferring family wealth and consumer bankruptcy relief. Ms. Davis was the recent Chair of the Professionalism Lawyer Life and Culture Committee for the Mecklenburg Bar, Co-chair of the Career Transitions Subcommittee and is Board member with Crossroads Charter School. She volunteers with Hospice Palliative Care,
Charlotte Region, providing legal advice to patients and their families. She previously served on the Executive
Committee of the Probate Division of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, 2004-2006; and Judicial Committee with
Black Women Lawyers of Los Angeles 2003-2005. In addition to the California and North Carolina State bars, Ms. Davis is a member the Mecklenburg County Bar, North Carolina Bar Association, National Association of Consumer
Bankruptcy Attorneys, Leary Bar Association and North Carolina Association of Women Lawyers.
